The opposite Spirit

God named Ishmael ‘God hears’ before he was born. Years later, God heard Ishmael’s cry when he was perishing in the wilderness and opened his mother’s eyes to see a spring of water from which she gave him drink – and he lived! Islam claims Ishmael as a spiritual forefather. Today’s Muslims are in the wilderness perishing and crying out for living water. Let the Church pray to the Father to reveal the well of living water, Jesus, so they might live!
The opposite Spirit

On Saturday evening in Edmonton Somali refugee Abdulahi Hasan Sharif ran his car into Edmonton Police Constable Mike Chernyk, stabbed him several times and fled when Chernyk resisted. Later that evening police stopped Sharif while he was driving a U-Haul van in the vicinity. He sped off, mowed down 4 pedestrians and was finally apprehended when police executed a manoeuvre that caused him to roll the van. Not a shot was fired, no one died, and the courageous Constable Chernyk is home with his family with slash wounds on his head and face. He had kept his gun away from Sharif with one hand while fending off knife blows with the other.

The Alberta Muslim Public Affairs Council hosted a vigil Sunday evening variously described as “in solidarity with Edmonton Police,” “against violence” and “for the victims.” Several hundred citizens and community leaders, including the Premier, gathered in the wind and rain and summarily condemned the attack. Meanwhile, a headline revealed the angst of Edmonton’s Muslims: “’Women will bear the brunt of the racism’: Muslim community feeling backlash after Saturday attack.” The quotation is from Mahamad Accord, a spokesman for the Somali community who has been working for years to help his community adjust to life in Canada.

Many in the West, believe the lie that “Islam is a religion of peace” and refuse to link violence with Islam.

SO, exalt Jesus, who is the Truth and the Prince of Peace. Bless the work of the Holy Spirit in removing the veil of deception and intimidation Islam has thrown over Western media, educators, governmental leaders and churches. By faith, use the sword of the Spirit to divide between Islam (the ideology) and Muslims (the people Jesus loves and died for). Pray for funding, favor, faithfulness and effectiveness for ministries and organizations that expose Islam. Declare that systems and mindsets in our nation that support the Islamic agenda are coming down.

Islam’s prophet encouraged his followers to use terror to demoralize their enemies.

SO, bless our police and security forces and the immigration and justice systems. Thank God they are on the job and vigilant against terror. We can celebrate that in the terror attack in Edmonton on September 29 no one was killed. The policeman who was attacked was brave and strong, and police tactics in stopping the vehicle being used as a weapon were brilliant. Pray for wisdom, insight and expertise for police to keep ahead of terrorist plots and methodology, for diligence in investigations, for expedited processes to take terrorism cases through our courts and effective work with communities seeking to stop radicalization of their youth.

Islamic terror is a deliberate strategy to isolate Muslims in the West by causing non-Muslims to hate and mistrust them. Muslims resent increased surveillance of their communities and become angry. Some leave Islam but others join jihad. Overall, it destabilizes our society.

SO, declare that God uses every terror attempt or event to BACKFIRE on the enemy. Call the church to WAKE UP, ARISE and LEAD THE WAY in embracing Muslims. Call in the Great Harvest. Pull this people group through the window of salvation God is granting us right now.

When we take ground for the Kingdom, if we fail to occupy, we lose what we have gained.

  • Continue to pray and proclaim. This is ongoing war.
  • Seek the Lord for His will for your region and pray accordingly.
  • Is there something you can do to encourage (and even educate) your local or regional police, politicians or pastors? They have tough jobs and could use your support.

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory

through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Co 15:57).
