The point of the spear

God named Ishmael ‘God hears’ before he was born. Years later, God heard Ishmael’s cry when he was perishing in the wilderness and opened his mother’s eyes to see a spring of water from which she gave him drink – and he lived! Islam claims Ishmael as a spiritual forefather. Today’s

Muslims are in the wilderness perishing and crying out for living water. Let the Church pray to the Father to reveal the well of living water, Jesus, so they might live!
The point of the spear

I’ve just returned from a prayer journey to the Middle East with a team of Canadian intercessors. One of the surprises the Lord prepared for us was proximity to the mausoleum of Aga Khan lll, grandfather of the current Aga Khan, head of the world’s 15 million Ismaili Muslims. His followers make pilgrimage to this site in Aswan, Egypt. Aga Khan lll is credited with uniting and separating out Indian’s Muslim population, making possible the later creation of the nation of Pakistan. Recognizing the mausoleum as a “high place” significant to Canada because of our Prime Minister’s relationship to Aga Khan lV, we prayed and made spiritual declarations there.

Justin Trudeau met the Aga Khan when he was a child, son of then PM Pierre Trudeau. They next met when Justin became leader of the Liberal Party of Canada in 2013. Last Christmas, the Trudeau family spent their vacation on the Aga Khan’s private island in the Bahamas. The Aga Khan Foundation is a registered lobbyist with the Canadian government and “has received millions of dollars in federal government development aid over the years”. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-aga-khan-bahamas-lobbying-1.4459561

Ismaili Muslims are peaceable, responsible citizens (think Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi), gracious and generous in good works. Media love using them to speak for Islam because they always say Islam is a religion of peace. But they comprise only about 1% of all Muslims, and mainstream Sunni and Shi’a Muslims regard them as apostate, persecuting them in many nations. I believe Ismaili Islam is like the point of a spear for Islam, creating goodwill that opens up the way for less peaceable forms of Islam to be welcomed. It may be that our Prime Minister is favorable to Islam generally because of his experience with Ismaili Muslims specifically through Aga Khan.

Yesterday, the Ethics Commissioner ruled that PM Trudeau was wrong to accept the gift of a vacation and free helicopter ride from the Aga Khan last Christmas (http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-aga-khan-ethics-island-analysis-wherry-1.4458606). In the past, Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson has been lenient in her rulings, finding loopholes to excuse most of the politicians under investigation. However, this ruling was scathing. Many commentators are wondering if Trudeau will be able to overcome this lack of accountability to the nation. Now Democracy Watch is asking for the Aga Khan Foundation to be investigated for breaking lobbying rules. Could it be that the prayers and declarations made at the high place in Aswan are taking effect?

Please take a moment when you read a related headline, or watch the news, or hear our Prime Minister’s name, to send up a few arrow prayers for

  1. Ismaili Muslims to abandon their reliance on good works and on a very fallible human leader to know instead the saving grace of the Lord Jesus, God’s anointed Son;
  2. Our government and Prime Minister to be fully accountable to the highest ethical standards; and
  3. This situation to be the point of the spear that opens up and fully exposes the enemy’s strategy to use Ismaili people to soften Canada to Islamic penetration of our nation.
